The House of Trees is a beautiful retreat nestled amidst charming elm, oak and apple orchards. Thanks to its spectacular location and the lush green scenes all around, the retreat is a magical place for travellers looking to explore a quainter side of Ladakh.
Located amidst the lush green Nubra Valley in the Himalayan Mountains and beautifully set along the Siachen River, the retreat offers its travellers spectacular views and an ideal place to disconnect from the outer world and connect with the inner self.
ABOUT THE STAY
Apart from its gorgeous location, the most unique feature of the retreat is that all the way from its construction to its operations, the entire focus is towards reducing Ladakh's carbon footprint.
The cottages are built using mud and stone and the entire retreat is solar powered. With its simplistic and minimalist design, elegant interiors and lush surroundings, the retreat is a magical experience where one can soak in local heritage and culture.
THE ROOMS
Be prepared to be mesmerized by the enchanting rooms at the retreat. The wooden ceilings, white walls and black oxide floors fills the space with soothing energy that makes for a relaxing, cozy stay.
Built in mud and stone, these cottages are inspired by local Ladakhi architecture, offering its travellers a surreal experience. All of these cottages open up to a private garden with breathtaking views of the snow capped Himalayas!

The House of Trees was conceived and designed by an experienced hospitality consultant, Pio Coffrant. The well trained and absolutely fantastic team at the retreat is every ready to help and ensure that you stay is peaceful, worry-free and completely relaxing.
You will see two happy, chirpy faces running the show. Meet Gayatri and Aditya, a happily married, nomadic couple, who are always on the look out for beautiful experiences, and have found home in Nubra Valley as property managers of The House of Trees.

GET THERE
By Road:
The only way to reach Nubra Valley is by road from Leh. The journey is 5 hours long through the magnificent Khardung-La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world.

The retreat operates from 1st May to 31st October

The retreat is best suited for solo travellers, couples and small families.

Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 14,000 depending on the meal plan for 2 adults.
ACTIVITIES
The House of Trees is an ideal place for slow travellers as well as adventure junkies and activity seekers.
For the ones who like to stay in and relax, this is a great place to read and write. The various, cozy indoor nooks and the charming outdoor spaces act as lovely reading corners. This is also an ideal place to meditate, find calm and practice some yoga.
There are various nature trails that one can embark on to explore the surrounding villages and orchards. In the evening, sit out in the open and watch the magical star-lit sky.
For travellers seeking more activity, hop on a cycle and ride along the quaint country-side, take a camel ride on the dunes of the Hunder Desert, and visit Diskit monastery.
